So I have an upcoming interview at Facebook and I don't have a good answer for why leave Snap to join Facebook. Frankly, "one makes money and the other is a question mark". I also think about the cultural difference, but can someone tell me more how they differ from one another? I see a lot of Amazon execs in Snap so that could be one difference... What else? š¤
Just be honest, why are you interviewing there anyway?
"I want to see what a different company's culture is like." "I want the chance to build products for billions of people." "I want to move to a new city" (if this includes a move) This isn't really a question that you can fail. The only thing they'd be looking for is of your answer gives some sort of red flag like talking shit about your last company. My reason was basically "I want to move to New York "
Are you a career interviewer? This is terrible advice
āIām looking for new growth opportunities and feel Facebook could offer themā āIām interested in new challengesā
As someone who has worked at both, Facebook is much more transparent internally than Snapchat.
"I'm more interested in FB because of XXX" "FB's culture of XXX attracts me" "I'm not sufficiently challenged in my role at Snap because of XXX and I believe FB will be different"
Snap culture is like Amazon now because snap hired ex-Amazonians
Every company hires ex amazonians, google and Facebook included.
Insert the word impact in your answer and you're golden
No one will ask you this question. If you were going from FB to Snap yes you would need an answer
I am going from fb to snap and yes i needed an answer
Nobody asks this question in engineering interviews at least in E3-E5
