Will Amazon chill with PIP especially now when they are having trouble even finding candidates?

It's almost everyday now I'm getting another Amazon/AWS recruiter email asking me to apply, and when I see an Amazon posting on LinkedIn, they are barely getting any applicants. Disney is getting waaay more applications even at senior level and their TC is 🥜 compared to Amazon's. Amazon not only sponsors almost every tech related job fair in the US, they are also sponsoring every major bootcamp at least in NYC just to get more candidates. Maybe a wakeup call? Would love to work there especially considering the projects they are working on like cloud gaming, but I ain't dealing with constant PIP fear, 50-70 work week, stressfull oncall with only 2 month ramp up, and merciless managers. Fuck that I'll keep my 🥜 AND I won't have to beat my wife. TC: 160k Level: mid #amazon #aws #disney #pip #tc #leetcode #tech

Amazon will just end up with an all H1B staff

Google bjncgjnn Apr 3, 2022

If Amazon removes pip the productivity will go down 50 percent. So they will need 2x the number of ppl as they have today.

Amazon isn't the only tech company that needs high productivity 24/7. Yet the other companies aren't mentioned even half as much as Amazon. There has to be a better way of removing fodder than what Amazon's doing right now. They're eventually going to run out of quality and just resort to quantity.

Google bjncgjnn Apr 3, 2022

Your need good quality managers to get productivity. Or you need pip. Amazon of course can't rely on humans as it's a vulnerability

Amazon is the worst company… lab126 fares lot better… just go for companies like snap

Hulu DaddyBig Apr 3, 2022

Snap has 10%pip?

I don’t think they struggle to get candidates. Many people still fail the interview everyday.

Disney Streaming Services LENH05 OP Apr 3, 2022

Amazon's interview process is actually easier compared to how it was 5 years ago for mid level and above. Still shows that people just don't want to work there.

Delivery Hero HVgp76 Apr 3, 2022

That’s probably true. Top talents with a lot of options will a avoid Amazon. But there are still a lot of people who don’t have that latitude who are just equally as good. I recently interviewed I missed ine really really easy coding question. Let’s see if I get in, then I’d believe it’s easy😅

Google wUyR14 Apr 3, 2022

They can still hire to PIP in India.

Amazon Qkex12 Apr 3, 2022

All big tech cos are trying to find a balance between quality and quantity right now. Interviews have gotten noticeably easier with the current tight labor market Also if you’re not on visa Amazon isn’t that bad. I’m not on visa and I’m just chilling. If I get fired I’ll just take a couple months off and go get a new job

Disney Streaming Services LENH05 OP Apr 3, 2022

Lol "isn' t that bad" What if I don't want any bad lol? But yeah def see what you mean. Still kinda concerning when more people DO actually want to work there but are scared off because of company culture. It's either they need a better PR team, or they chill with PIP policy.

Amazon Qkex12 Apr 3, 2022

I mean, to each his own but I’d take “isn’t that bad” for 350k-400k TC with 3 YOE I don’t see them ever getting rid of the policy. They’ve proven they’d rather just throw more money at people than get rid of it. Which is perfectly fine 🤷‍♂️ Does suck for existing employees though

Amazon machine runs on PIP fear. They hire so they can PIP.
