Will Amazon engineers be blacklisted in tech industry ?
I am new grad, I am worried that the current negativity with Amazon will result in companies not willing to interview/hire Amazon engineers in future. It's no secret that Amazon bar has went down significantly, but what is more worrying me is that I won't get interview calls if recruiters/hiring managers see I am from Amazon as they will think I am a burnt out engineer with sub-par talent.
So will in future (unless Amazon fixes it's pip policy), Amazon be blacklisted or Amzon engineers be considered untouchables ? How's the situation currently for those that left Amazon and went to somewhere better.
EDIT : I might be exaggerating this fear, but hey looking at the current scenario I doubt things will change at Amazon and the industry might just not like Amazon engineers in future.

I don't get your statement that refreshes impact your TC before the cliff. You are guaranteed your TC for 4 years at Amazon. Refreshes are given for years 5+. If you aren't given good refreshes because you didn't get TT then you are free to seek a different job. A common strategy is indeed to ask for pivot and PIP as you can collect severance and get a high paying job at some other top company. Once you have Amazon on your resume it all becomes far easier. Thus I personally don't give the slightest shit about refreshers. It is a problem i'll deal with many years from now and is easily solved by simply getting a different job. I don't want to work at Amazon for decades as I feel once I have kids I wouldn't want to work more than 30 hours a week.
Ultimately, Amazon and Google are both excellent places for one's careers; however, saying Amazon trumps both G and FB in experience, is definitely false. This depends purely on the team, but I tend to find that G and FB has a higher probability of having a better experience ON AVERAGE than one at Amazon. Also, like someone mentioned earlier, Amazon's hiring bar has fallen down a black hole, which does tend to affect one's experience. I tend to find G and FB E4/L4 better engineers than an Amazon L5.
Any one person can have a wildly different experience at amzn which has over 1M employees
Amazon is still considered one of the best places that offer good technicall growth to engineers (no rest and vest, performance is must, in most teams). Having Amazon in resume will make it much easier to get interviews.
Also, Blind / Reddit etc are echo chambers.
