Now that president Trump has banned the US companies from doing business with Huawei, will there be layoffs soon at Futurewei? https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/google-suspends-some-business-with-huawei-after-trump-blacklist
It’s funny that the US Huawei is called “future” Wei. So the Chinese think that the USA stands for the future? Also, how many employees does Futurrwei have?
Unsure about what Chinese think, but if I were to guess, I would say because many people in the US work on "research or exploratory projects", the outcome of which might be related to a future Huawei product feature, hence the name futurewei -- do not know what "wei" means. Around 1000+ employees.
Usually its the research and exploratory projects that are killed first when it comes to cost cutting, company not doing good, etc etc
Heard it’s a bad culture there (as per my Chinese American friends :) how is it going for you OP?
Fukk Huawei.... I hope they die hard and slow
No. The US employees at Huawei exist entirely to be brain scraped over the course of a 3Y package. They won’t lay them off because they exist for purposes of ip theft.
💯 percent correct
How are thing going? Any layoffs coming?
@tard Layoffs are already here as correctly predicted by this poll. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/huawei-plans-cut-jobs-u-031819599.html "some of Huawei’s Chinese employees in the U.S. were offered the option of returning home and staying with the company, according to the report." As I and others have mentioned in a few posts, the sole purpose of these so called "R&D employees" was to steal tech from the US universities and companies. Now they are unable to do that so Huawei does not need them here. Huawei is hoping that that political situation will change after next year's election and then it will promptly send those "R&D employees" back to the US to reinitiate its spying operation. This is a company that exploits every loophole in the US system -- i.e. hiring Chinese national who came to the US on student visas to attend a fake universities run by Chinese founders and so that they can work at Huawei on OPT for 3+ years. The company keeps pushing its non-Chinese employees to reveal trade secret from previous employers and pushing them to engage with the US Universities. During my tenure there, my Chinese manager docked my bonus because I did not initiate a university project. A Chinese coworker who was able to find a Chinese citizen professor in a university got stellar ratings. So it is about time to kick Huawei and its Chinese nationalist employees out of the US. Huawei take back all your Chinese spies to China, you are not welcome here.
Thanks for the update. Do you feel having Huawei on resume will reduce the chance of landing new jobs for folks here in the US?
Who cares
Obviously OP does, he/she works in the US
