Don’t you work for Amazon?
Yeah. I think they will. I think they are in competition and the claws are out. It will take time but will happen. https://amp.businessinsider.com/amazon-werner-vogels-oracle-database-fulfillment-2019-4
Corporate DBS like Oracle's have always been a nightmare. There are reasons why postgres or mysql were invented. If you research how Dynamo works, you will come across some surprises ;) I think it's not because Oracle's DB is so bad technically, it's more down to business reasons imho...
Yep.... ahah. Go tell JPMC/BOA to use Postgres vs. Oracle; let’s see how that goes.
Hehe, they go with Oracle not because postgres wouldn't work technically, but in the event of failure they couldn't sue postgres to cover the damages, whereas with Oracle there are enough assets to compensate a fuckup if required ;)
LOL
"because Amazon used its own database" That sounds like a gross oversimplification.
Welcome to Blind. Where everything's made up and the facts don't matter.
I hear rumors that a certain aws group isn't even planning to move off oracle and got an exception from leadership. So no.
CloudWatch?
Couldn't agree more. Amazon should continue using that piece of shit
Hey TK
It’ll be easy to spot if they are using Oracle from financial statements (and LE probably will call it out).
Retail company cannot build databases
Did I just witness 'smartsheet' take a dig at AWS ?? Blind never ceases to amaze me.
I smell something burning
