If I don't get promoted by the end of 3 years at Adobe as an L3 engineer (meaning the soonest next round would be a little over 3.5 years since I began), does that look bad on my resume? If I interviewed at Google, for instance, would that be a red flag? Update: what if it took 4 years? TC: not sure...I think like $190k depending
Nobody cares about your grade or level at other companies. You are not as important as you think, and plenty of people come to Google from outside a company with a well established grade and level scale
It definitely wouldn't prevent them from hiring you. In fact, it probably wouldn't even be taken into consideration. Also, wtf is with that multi-year timeline? Does Adobe only do promotions every 3 years?
I meant 3.5 years from when I started, so another half year. I think it's normal to only do promotions at review time twice a year. On another note, what if it took 4 years? Does it start to raise red flags then?
Just wondering how much leeway I have before I have to jump ship to save my career.
