Will you talk to Hiring Manager in LinkedIn?

will there be any problem to update hiring manager when your transfer is still in progress (long progress bcos of RFE) signed the offer around 1st week of oct, transfer is still in progress. rfe received on nov 25 and attorneys still working on filing the response bcos of holidays. now the hiring manager viewed my profile in LinkedIn. i never messaged him before. gave connection request the day i attended onsite and he accepted. will there be any problem to just mesage the HM saying transfer is still in progress and will be resolved in few weeks? or just leave it to recruiter to update HM and wait for the transfer to get complete? please advice. tc 220

I think it’s ok to talk to hiring manager. I am not sure what’s your concern. RFE etc are immigration issues they see often . So he won’t abandon you just cos if that. May be it’s more about understanding what your concerned about and why you wanna talk. Having communication upfront before joining is not a problem usually. It’s sometime better too.

On the other hand I would actually be updating him on the process. You can't be certain that HR is keeping him on the loop

Right, best to talk to your HM and start the relationship building process even before joining. By taking an initiative you are being proactive rather than reactive. Moreover, communication is imperative because at the end of the day, we all are human beings thriving on exchange of information.
