I'm joining FB in a little bit, and I'm curious how these companies reconcile RSU compensation. I've been looking at levels.fyi for details and I'm a little lost.
Let's say you come in as a E4 at 250 yearly TC with 50k a year in RSU as your initial grant, and then get promoted in like 18 months to E5 - do they knock up your refreshers so that your RSU amount hits into the E5 band - which looks like the median is around 100k a year? Or do you get another 4 year RSU grant that replaces your initial grant but also resets the four year clock?
Or are you just stiffed and I should've come in as an E5?
Edit: I'm joining Facebook to provide clarity

For E4 it is around 70-80k over 4 years at fb
Amazon sets a target TC for every employee. When you're hired, they assume 15% stock appreciation into the TC. Each year, they check how your TC is compared to target. If it's above, you get no refresher. This is the normal case because stock appreciation has been high historically. There is no cash or stock bonus. Only adjustments to TC to target. If you get promoted, your target TC will increase and you might get more stock. But again if stock appreciation already has you above the new target, there's no new stock awards.
