I work out of the Princeton office and live about 15 mins away. The commute is a big factor for me to stay since I get more time to spend with my kids and have a healthy daily routine. But I feel like the opportunities available inside and outside the company are somewhat limited and my career could take a better turn if I join a tech company in NYC. The commute obviously scares me. People who already have long commutes to NYC, how do you handle WLB? Do you WFH few days a week? Do you hire help at home? Do you work short hours or something else? Why not move to New York City? There are so much fun things to do in the city for you and the kids
Work short hours in the office then do more work on the train if you need to. Maybe try to negotiate work from home on Fridays Either way, you probably wouldn't be able to do anything after work with your kids besides dinner
Wonder how flexible are the tech companies like fangmulla in letting you wfh..
I commute from Princeton Junction to NYC everyday. 2 hours each way. Have been doing it for 9 years. You will get used to it but it will wear you out. I don’t have luxury to WFH.

Been at job 4 months and hate it
My commute to work is ~45-60 mins. I freaking hate it! Average is 50 mins, so it’s 100 mins a day, which is 2200 mins a month, which is 26400 mins a year, minus 1400 mins vacation days. 25000 mins, which is a little more than 17 days. 17 freakin days per year I spend in a train. It’s a slow death.
