Curious to know how women stay resilient and what types of strategies they practice in industries like Gaming and Tech. I myself have dealt with my own barrage of issues and I've heard from friends and younger women that they've struggled similarly with certain men and feeling like workplaces generally don't take harassment-related issues seriously or grapple with gender issues at the work place enough. Curious to know how you work through all of it and stay resilient!
Seems legit.
Wow this thing you made up sounds terrible
I quit my job and I’m a full time homemaker now. I must say I found my bliss
find mentors and find a community. it gets easier with solidarity and support. you can only do as much as you can to improve things for future generations.
Can you give us some examples?
I think having a community or group of friends to talk about issues with help get through things a lot. Not that you'll always have stuff to talk about, but when or if things do arise talking to people about it helps a lot!
Join a company that doesn’t treat women like shit. There are many. They don’t look great on your resume but you will be too busy being happy, and respected to care about it.
What if I care about TC? What kind of advice is this... Harks closely to when it was said you should stay at home. Doesn't look great on your resume but you'll be too busy being happy and respected to care about it.
A better rephrasing of this comment would be "optimize for joining a company with a strong, positive culture instead of optimizing for TC". Plenty of companies have strong positive internal cultures and look just fine on a resume. Learn what to look for in job listings and in interviews and focus your efforts on those companies instead of the traditional big-name ones. If you'd prefer TC above all else, then ignore this advice, but the companies that pay the best are often overcompensating for a shitty internal culture. This is not advice specific to women in tech; when a culture is rotten, everyone suffers (though marginalized groups are always the ones hit hardest...).
