Work Culture at Microsoft
I am exploring a job opportunity with Microsoft in India and and wanted to know from people here how is the work culture in MS. I am used to work hard and working on compressed timelines with a lot of pressure is not an issue and in fact I love this. Few important things that I would like to know 1. How is work there? I do get a feeling from outside that MS innovates a lot, both in O365 and in Azure. Are most people working on exciting stuff? 2. Do teams get enough freedom or is there a lot of overhead and interference by architects? 3. Are appraisals based on performance or on impressions/relations with higher ups? 4. Is life fair at Microsoft? Since asked in the comments, I am putting it here that offer is for principal engineering manager (Level 66). Money is not the primary factor here and i am looking for a nice working environment and good growth opportunities in career. #culture #workplace #officelife

Based on someone who came here from there, the answer to the third question is most likely impressions/relations/politics
Rest and vest is the average. Of course there will be some teams on extreme sides of that average given how massive the company is.
