Hey, I am applying to jobs in Canada and I currently have a job in US (currently on F1 Visa)!
While applying for the jobs, I am asked, " Are you authorized to work in Canada in which you are applying? ", upon Google search I found only PR and Canadian citizens can say yes and if I say no then it's an easy reject.
I'm kinda confused by it so how can I even apply for a job when I'm blocked by working there in first place? Can't I say yes and then tell them to sponsor me?

Please advise, thank you!

That process is a year long and could be even more now. Why would a company wait that long unless you have their kryptonite

Even if I try in advance with skilled federal visa program, no way I'm getting enough points to get PR! That's why I'm seeking options. Looks like this is out too :((

Inter company transfers are fast. See if you can find a company who will hire you here and based on visa outcome send you to Canada.

I never understand attitudes like this. Canada hires people who need work visas based on the functional output of their country’s labor force. Just like any other desirable country in the world.

If you will need sponsorship to work there, do not lie in your application.

The only thing confusing about this is that you don’t like the obvious answer.

Well in that case, just apply. In the US it’s decided before the job is even posted if they will consider applicants who need sponsorship. So just apply and see what happens.

Better to say no and see if they want to sponsor than lie and be found out later. Also, if they say yes, check out the cost of living before you agree... Bay area prices and a quarter of the wages.

It’s possible. One of my roommates during PhD did an internship in NV Toronto. I only knew he delayed the internship for a year but not sure about the details.
