If you have worked in similar org and similar role in both US and India, what differences you felt? In terms of work quality, wlb, career growth, professionalism etc Pl don't compare Infosyses of India to Facebook of US.
Simply no comparison. Stay away!
People are equally smart on both sides in my experience, but I have observed a lot of insecurity among management ranks in India if there's an artificial glass ceiling away from the power-center. This leads to them not being forthcoming or open in their communications that matter. It's about how much funding, 'projects', and headcount that they could justify to build their mini-empires to make up for ranks. Questioning anyone even +1 rank is not tolerated. Official processes and HR are used to put such "trouble-makers" in their place as examples for others. There are immature and vindictive managers who would sort their personal differences in performance reviews or 'no rehire' comments on exit. Of course, none of this would have been possible without passive approval of the people in the power-centers, who get to claim that they manage 500 people worldwide for cheap. No one really cares about merit - in the US or in India. It's all about territorial and other politics at shareholders' cost. If you haven't seen this where you work yet, it's coming there soon. Be thankful until then.
I have worked with two top companies. My experience: 1. Engineers here are of greater Calibre than India. It is simple if you are of the same Calibre you won't be in India, you will probably take a transfer here. Unless you have personal reasons not to. 2. Engineers here are more professional. They actually produce more output than their indian counterparts. 3. These companies keep the best work in usa, so the projects in India aren't that great. 4. If you perform here, you will get noticed and promoted fast. It is pure capitalism. 5. America is a workaholic nation, people tend to work more. There was a report that most Americans don't use their vacation time fully.

@Symantec can you please tell me with which companies have you worked with. I know many engineers who work in top product companies and do not take transfer to the US and have very high TC's in India .
