What's it like at HBO? How's the culture? How's comp? Benefits? 401k? Stocks? Is it exciting times given that a streaming service is going to come out soon? Or are people trying to get off the bus?
I heard from my friend that it’s Apple Map’s bad..
GOT is gone, no reason to work there 🚫
Culture sucks now. Comp? They want everyone in WM making the same which is good - HBO employees are underpaid compared to WB, WM and AT&T. Stock match up to 7% Steer clear though. HBO won’t be anything in 2-3 years
Great comp. Great WLB. lots of opportunity with the new app coming out. The tech can definitely be bad. Depends a lot on the team.
Somone recently reached out to ask me about this and this was the report card I gave them WLB is A+ Comp is B+ Work/Interesting problems is a B Coworkers are A
Accurate
I’d agree with all of that, except I’d give work a C+. There is a lot of organizational and architectural debt that has never and probably will never have enough resources to be driven out or resolved. What you work on has a lot of impact and the public talks about it. Media company first for better or worse - surprising amount of technical depth but again the debt is fairly piled.
How does the bonus work? Is it annual? What's the average %? And is it spread over a few years?
It’s annual. Your target is based on your level - CL4 gets 20% of base as a target I believe, which is paid 50% first year and 25% next 2 years (added to next years 50%). Performance modifiers mean you get from 100% (on pip, about to be fired) of that 20% to 150% (walk on water).
Do you have to pay back the sign on bonus if you leave sooner?
Is there RSU?
The tech is clearly really really bad
“the tech” lol ok sure jan
