How is it like to work at Microsoft ?
Is it a boring company to work for ? I heard Microsoft is just filled with aging population and not much growth opportunity

Joined amazon a few months back from Microsoft. I'd give an arm and a testicle to go back to my old team at Microsoft

I left MS a year ago, in 5 years tried 3 different orgs and I can honestly say if you're young it's a resume killer, since things move slow, so much politics and majority of the roles I've seen is depth and rarely involved breadth. If you're looking for your last job before retirement, then πŸ‘

It is literally a company of thieves. Many years ago they visited our company under the guise of perhaps purchasing us or our tech or licensing the tech. The engineers left and never got in touch again, and behold a year later Microsoft announces a competitor to our product... that, and the fact most Microsoft products are mediocre crap, I wouldn’t work for MS unless I was paid $1M/year and up, to make it bearable.

Like Eric did to iPhone and Android? I wonder how much more profit and market would Apple have if not Eric's stealing the top secret from the board seat right in front of Steve Jobs. Google launching the uber like service is another story. Apparently, stealing is not included in evil act.

Large corps can only innovate to a certain degree. Google’s main product was developed before google existed officially (by Larry and Sergey). Everything in google revolves around the principles launched way back the founders.

  • All depends on the team. I'm a younger person stuck on a team of old farts literally at the age of retirement, who just do the bare minimum. There are many young teams with great prospects. Those teams are the future of MSFT.

    • Pretty much how I feel. I went to MS Ignite this week and talked to a lot of people. Many of the younger PMs and sales people were enthusiastic about their jobs, while many of the older ones seemed miserable.

    • Teams outside of WDG are younger. Young teams at Universal Store are not very happy imho. Young teams at Exchange seem to have fun from what I saw.
