I'm considering a position at Palantir but from what I see there's a lot of hate going on. I know a few of their controversial topics and some argue the company has a bad reputation, but they work on amazing other projects that benefits society too. Could someone please give me a honest common opinion without just saying it is creepy or whatever?
Wlb is pretty bad. They work you like dogs, but then again most HFT/quant shops are the same in that regard
Benefit society? How? By working on weapon of mass destruction?
By providing a tool to analyze data, which can be used in both good and bad ways, right?
If you are not white and from top 5 college with undergrad degree, you will be discriminated there
I m not but I m just speaking the truth. No need to be mean and make Blind full of that. Palantir is mostly Stanford, UPenn, MIT kids. If you are not one of them, you are not one of them.
I would caution on the side of black-white thinking of a company's goals and actions. Ultimately, I think working for this company depends on your trust of the consumer (US Feds especially). Some are naturally distrustful, and I happen to be one of those - but I'm not trying to sway your opinion. Everybody can agree that you will help to catch more underwear bombers. The main disagreement of opinion is what surveillance could be targeted at seemingly "normal" citizens , especially when they are ultra-privacy concerned. It sounds like you think the positive impact is huge and internally rewarding. You will be happy doing this work. Don't let the crazies and conspiracy theorists limit your career growth 😜
I think they're fine. They only build a data platform. It gets used by companies (banks, aviation, manufacturing, etc.) just as much as it gets used by governments.
Dat ceo man, epitome of douche
I interviewed there a few months ago but didn't get an offer :( I came away with a positive impression overall
They are doing some of the most important work in tech. If the offer is strong, go for it. From what I’ve heard, their bar is pretty high too, so the experience will likely be good in that regard
Everyone should get rid of their IBM hardware then lol

Honestly - it seems like an interesting company. I had an offer from them before and considered working there. I feel like the reputation is unwarranted considering all the shit other companies get up to too.. if you wanna be a good guy, work at bill and Melinda’s foundation.. if you’re in it for the money, we should stop w the pot calling the kettle black
