Any ideas how the work culture would be and yearly bonus/comp for 12 years experience person as a senior engineer YoE : 12 TC : 190k Location : Seattle
bad in what areas long term strategy /growth ?
I was somewhat joking, but I do think Zillow is in a better position than Redfin. For example, Zillow is more of a household name than Redfin. Growth here is goodāthe company literally has doubled our employee count by the end of 2018 (over 4K now). Thereās also room to move up or even switching to a team where you have no experience in. We just need to keep hiring the experience and not be complacent in order to stay on top š

Donāt listen to the FUD. Redfin is a great place to work and has a strong engineering culture for both new grads and tech leads / principal engineers.
Why do all the tech leads and principals keep going back to Amazon then?
I have to disagree and the work environment on average is toxic and can be hostile thanks to Glenn Kelman. Managers walk around on eggshells wondering if he will blow up or not. There have been countless examples where he has screamed at or bullied employees only to keep calling them later to apologize. Itās a recurring pattern.
Where are these examples coming from?
From the FUD department, apparently. Iām not defending anyone as being perfect but calling the environment toxic is way overblown.
Really bad, come to Zillow
Better TC?
