How is it working at a gaming company like Roblox? Anyone with experience?
I had an offer there but turned it down for low comp
Turned it down.
I worked there briefly (under 3 months.) If you're not IN LOVE with the product, or a junior dot-net developer, or on the game engine side (which may be healthier, there is a pretty deep division between the web platform and the game engine) I'd avoid it... and avoid it hard the more senior or the more you like the regular start up culture of autonomy. The place is very top down, and a lot of the code base is very old and nasty even aside from being dot net, and while they're improving their tooling, it's mostly tied tightly to the MS stack. TFS, for example, is a steaming turd if you are used to modern DVCS like git or hg They have a lot of nice, well meaning, mostly very junior, people - most of them hired very recently. A few old timers who understand how anything actually works are a bottleneck. Base pay was pretty good but since they're private total crapshoot on whether the equity will ever be worth anything.
Good company, did not work there coz no love for the product.
