Anyone here work at Reddit? What’s it like? Their Glassdoor seems all over the place which makes me think lots of recent changes. Trying to decide between taking my offer here vs a public company that’s doing very well. Would love some insight on culture and people here!
You just described every engineering org
They raised a lot of money recently, seems like a good time to join
Total comp of offer?
There's a thread right now in our internal blind with someone confessing about being almost driven to tears, and another one telling them to get over it because it isn't cool to cry at work. The culture has turned highly political. It's a toxic dumpster fire of incompetence, with a flood of people leaving the company every month. A recent blind poll shows 45% of the company doesn't plan to be there in the next year. Of course, it's blind, so the data is probably biased, but the outlook is grim.
i recently saw reddit job posting in LA. can you speak to what the culture at the LA office is like? where is there LA office?
That sounds not great at all... is this toxicity specifically for engineering or company wide?
Highly disorganized too. They took over a month to tell me I passed the tech screen and wanted to schedule an onsite. Wtf?
Not an engineer, so maybe it's different on that side of things, but I truly love it here.
My role is not engineering so would love to know your side a bit more? What are people like and how is management? What do you love about it?
Plus they’re the only company that asked me stupid trivia questions during interviews.
Not an engineer either. I think it’s fair to say there’s been a lot of change (driven by growth) in the last 2 years, and restructuring on the eng. side probably annoyed people in that org. That said, the majority of the people make this place great to work at and I love it. Culture is fun and collaborative. I don’t know what team you’re looking at, but all of the ops teams are awesome in my opinion
Like most tech places, sucks if you’re black.
Any stories you can share?
That’s the problem. Nothing sticks out to make me think “hmmm this place really makes me feel valued.” Most these places tout diversity scores with only 10-11% black folks If you’re lucky, it’s really 2-6%. There are cultural differences that aren’t acknowledged nor attempted to be understood. Being unapologetically Black in these spaces is intimidating. F assimilation.. can’t do it
