Anyone know how the work culture and prospects for the company are?
It's a great place to build skills. You're not gonna get rich, but you'll get to do interesting things before you get frustrated at the lack of progress and move on.
Thanks for the input folks
I would ignore the positive spin - I wouldn't recommend joining to any friend/family member. I wouldn't want anyone to have to deal with the poor culture and floundering leadership. You might get paid a lot to do so, but you can get paid a lot at better companies imo.
I think it really depends on both the team and role. Some people are super happy and others super frustrated. Lots of constant change that doesn’t always make sense. But, smart people who like each other and a great mission.
+1 that it depends on team and role. I gave my notice recently but would highly recommend the place to other people depending on the role
Which roles would you recommend? I'm looking at a BizOps position
I would definitely avoid BizOps. At its height BizOps was around 30 ppl and most of those ppl have left of their accord. Career prospects are weak and the function doesn’t add as much value as they might think they do. NW doesn’t need BizOps. It needs to find product market fit
I'm honestly shocked we're hiring for bizops at all.
What about their marketing team? Any good?
Really awesome folks on the team who are great at their jobs and fun to work with, but the VP of Marketing is literally the worst (completely out of her league, makes irrational decisions out of the blue, and is coasting on her friendship with the CEO). One of the single best things our company could do is get rid of this person. She's out on maternity leave right now and the interim VP is great from what I hear. But when she returns it'll be a total crapshoot.
+1
Smart people but the company is not doing very well. Very limited career prospects
