I hate working from home. I've gotten lazy and anti-social. It feels like I wake up, go to the next room, work, log off, go back to the next room, rinse and repeat. I don't feel like myself and feel very emotionless. I'm having a hard time caring about colleagues whom I meet only virtually across the country that I'll probably never meet in person. I'm even considering leaving tech completely at some point now and becoming a pilot just to break out of this mundane existence.. any words of wisdom or advice would be appreciated. PS before you comment that I suck and it's my fault for not liking remote work, or how great remote work is, understand that everyone's situation is different. I get that remote work is great if you have a family or if you had a terribly long commute or just don't really enjoy being around others. Not everyone has a strong support system or enjoys working from home so please respect my own experience. I'm not trying to get into a debate about why remote work is good or bad, only that it's not for me. TC 200k

Heard congress distributing wealth
I felt the exact same way while WFH. Have been working from the office full time for months and it helped me a lot. Is that an option for you?
Location?
Why don’t you go into the office then? If you love the office environment I’m sure Amazon would love to have you there.
Try a WeWork location next to you
I second this. I currently do this as my company is fully remote. Seeing people and being in a like office is much better to your mental health vs being isolated.
If you drive, parking can cost more than a day's rate at WeWork. My location costs $40 for parking after 4 hours but the WeWork day rate is $25.
No, WFH is far better especially if you’ve done many years of in office work.
Absolutely not, WFH can be pretty depressing like OP said. The best is some sort of hybrid model where you can go in as little or as much as you want.
Have you ever worked full time in an office?
Yes, my whole 13 year career up until COVID
Do you live alone? Any family/friends in vicinity?
Why are you WFH if you don't like it? Doesn't Amazon allow to come to the office?
Yeah, I feel the same. Enjoyed it for 1.5 years, but last 6 months have been a drag. So looking to go into the office for 3+ days / week
Take 30 minutes bus to subway station, then take 90 minutes subway to office . Then you will miss the life work from home
Move near the civilization
Most offices in bay area are in the middle of nowhere
are you being forced to wfh? can you just move to an in person job?
I actually just relocated back to my home town to be near family just to regain some sort of support system but there isn't an Amazon office in my city. I question if the office environment is even close to how it used to be tho. I'm sure only a small percentage of people are actually going back to the office right now anyways
yeah when i go to snap office its pretty dead. nothing like old days
