Work/life balance in Apple kernel group?

I have an opportunity to join an apple kernel group. Was wondering if anyone could give their informed experience about work/life balance. When is crunch time usually? I have a family and I need to take vacation during the summertime.

Everyday is crunch time. We have to get rushed buggy OSs out to our elitist customers so they can have the latest features no one else uses. All of this while getting paid less then google employees who get to do what ever tf they want.

Thanks for that deep bit of insight.

You work at Starbucks?

Why are you paid less though despite being a prestigious company? Is it because of the team?

That reply was clearly trolling.

Work/life fit (they don’t say balance, because they know it will never happen) is dependent upon the organization and manager. It’s rare, but some groups have good work/life fit. Overall, Apple still works people like we’re a startup. Old habits are slow to die:)
