I am kind of an edge case in this whole process of h1b. I am at the last step and getting bit anxious so I am asking it here. I was working for a company X and they applied for my h1b application last year I got another very good offer from a different company Y in July. I asked company X abt my visa application and they tell me they havent got any response yet. But most of my coworkers got their response. Finally in August end they told me that it was not picked and I switched the companies. I was planning to travel to my home country on christmas and I went to my university to get my I20 signed. It was at that moment I came to know that my h1b was approved 2 days ago. It was november end. I right away emailed both companies abt the situation. It took around 10 days to get the the approval notice and other docs from company X to my company Y and they started to file my transfer. They put me on unpaid leave and on Jan 24th it was approved. I got the approval notice for the transfer on 31st of Jan and I went back to my home country on feb 7th after booking the appointment. My question now is should I tell them all this story when I go for visa interview ? Or just say company Y filed my transfer end of story ?
As in any interview, Simplify the story
Just explain what happened if they ask, and definitely definitely don't lie
But I shouldnt say that it was the mistake of the old company for misleading me regarding the h1b lottery status. Right kind of bad mouthing the company
