Is it worth spending for an software engineer on MBA if he already has MS degree? Does it give you adv over other doing the same job? Usually a MbA from a good university would cost anywhere from 150k to 200k. So is it worth spending? Does any online certification from Berkeley/Stanford can help or any online MBA? Looking for some suggestions. How is executive MBA considered? I have heard that MBA is good for networking.
It depends on ur objectives. I have ms and mba. As a person I have grown and very smart. Made smart personal investments and know about a wide variety of things and correlate business and tech very easily but would I advise every one to do it .. it depends on ur goals. If u hate coding go for it else why spend 200k
I think my real question is what makes more sense spending 200k from a reputed univ or 50k from an average univ
So if u plan to have a executive career go to rep universities but no guarantee there btw. It depends on you. If you want to be a director vp then a ok university is also fine
Mba does gives u an over education
Not worth it :)
Mba. Not worth it unless you get it from a reputed school. Which will cost money and time. Mba doesnt teach you mangerial skills. Those come from actual work experience. It opens doors for conversations and that is it.
Not worth it. Unless you're trying to break into PE or Finance. (Which you should that's where the grown up money is) Getting an MBA to stay in tech is pointless. Also don't get an MBA unless it's Top 5. It's basically just a stamp. No point in a stamp if it's not a good one.
What about getting a research based Masters in some hot area like Machine Learning or computer vision? Will that help career wise ?
If you want to make it into the C-suite or be a senior VP at a large tech company, yes. Otherwise, no.
Here's what I found out in my research... Folks with an MBA would usually respond that it was worth it. Folks without an MBA would usually respond that it isn't worth it citing their own cases of how they made it into product management without an MBA .
And folks who are actual GMs and VPs are not hanging out on Blind.
You'd be surprised
What is your objective? Why a Mba? Figure that out first
Objective is to get managerial skills.. not sure what is better for career.. spending 200k from a reputed university or less $$ from an average university.
Reputation > cheap
