Currently at Twitter with TC 350k. Is it worth switching to Netflix for a little more? I believe Netflix offers in the range of 425k+ for 9 YOE. Backend distributed systems SE.
Unless you’re hired in at a director level you might not got that at Netflix.
Not true. I know a software engineer who joined with a 540. That’s the high end. But 450 is very doable at Netflix imo if you’re good enough.
Well, it mostly depends on your level of exp and what you bring to the table for that team. Don’t think they would go over 450. But, still why leave Twitter for just a 100 grand more?
Worth it only if, 1. Prospect of 4 months severance / break attracts you. 2. You are bored at your current job and need a motivation to work ( like not getting fired) 3. You are going to be a parent soon and want that sweet parental leave.
SF vs Los Gatos. How's your commute?
If your visa status is not tied to you being employed, I would say go for it. Basically be ready to get laid off with 4 months severance. The experience at Netflix is worth though.
Is it true that you may get laid off anytime soon at Netflix?
If you suck, you will
500k easily
I know two cases. One got promoted to VP Products from a Director level and got laid off. Another moved to eng manager from individual role but back to individual role in less than a year's time
Worth in what sense? What is your motivation? What makes you think a job is worth it..?? Is it cash, project, impact, visibility?? If you know your current job and proposed job, compare them on your worth metric and evaluate.
Did you leave?

What is the level you have at Twitter? I can’t comment but remember all cash Netflix TC vs typical TC number difference.
Senior SE - L6. Any idea about the current TC at Netflix?
It is top of the market... no levels so it depends on your skill set. You might get a better TC of what you have now and in cash
