For a senior role in PM, which of the two opportunities is more attractive to you personally? Assume both can be in SF or Seattle. - Uber Freight is standalone, probably 300 employees within Uber ATG, as part of a 20k person company - AWS is a 20k division in a 200k+ person company; not sure how big the data & analytics group is within AWS Which pays more these days? Heard Uber is getting formulaic, which could be bad; and the stock is of course illiquid. On the AWS side, these would be amongst the coolest/most innovative services to work on. Uber role is Director level, AWS is Sr Mgr. Both cultures have a hard edge which concerns me. But I’m beginning to think both have undeservedly bad reputation (or perhaps I like the positive aspects of their cultures). After you vote, Please comment below: WHY?

It’s going to be an L7 in AWS, which is quite a respectable level. Some people in that grade have over 40people reporting to him or under him. Some L7s used to be VPs in other very well-known tech companies in the Bay Area. Opportunity-wise I think AWS is better.
Yes L7 does seem pretty legit. Are you at AWS?
I work closely with Freight, very fast growing business and culturally independent of Uber. So its like being in a startup within in a big company. Lots unknowns but that's the exciting part, disrupting an age old industry with tech. Definitely more product and business focused than technology focused org at the moment.
Janitor at Amazon > VP at Uber. Hyperbole, but not far off from the truth. I wouldn't touch Uber with a 10' pole.
Why is it that in every Uber thread, there is a Microsoft employee spreading anti-Uber biases? I understand it's like really boring to work in a company which is mostly culturally irrelevant at this point, but maybe channel your resentment to something more useful.
I'm not a Microsoft employee. I'm an ex Microsoft employee. Your company is bad and you should feel bad.
Amazon as big data and analytics would sound much better on your resume then freight at Uber..
Tell me more. Why do you think so? What’s interesting about Freight is that it’s a much bigger market than cabs, and is an area where autonomous tech will be applied first.
Have you made a decision yet? If not, happy to discuss more details with you over private message. I have worked with quite a few folks in the past who are now in freight, and have worked closely with freight /autonomous division ...
Did you really get a PM role with those writing skills and that English? 👆
Maybe his first language isn’t English, but then there was that horrifically clunky and incorrect semicolon usage. If you aren’t a strong English speaker... why? Periods work just fine.
Lol. Touché. Native English speaker. But mobile apps reduce my typing and grammar skills. (im old. Not a mobile native ;)
