Would you rather take less pay for a role you know you’ll love with a startup or slightly more pay with FAANG for a...

role that you’re not crazy about but think you’ll eventually like parts of it. For context — the “start up” has been around for 2+ years, has 130 employees, and has just gotten $70M in Series C funding. My role with them would be Product Manager. Opposing offer would be with Google as a sales engineer. Startup TC: 120 Google TC: 150

I’ve got friends that work at the company and I’ve been to the office to meet many folks and I could immediately tell that people actually liked working there and the friendships between coworkers were real, not just pretend work friendships. And the role itself sounds great with great WLB

Already done FANG, so this affects my decision. I would chose the more interesting role. PM and sales are very different. Breaking into new role can take years.

It would take a lot more than $30k/yr to make me give up something I know I'd love for something I might "eventually like parts of."

💰doesn’t provide happiness, but it eases the pain. Also having kiddos requires money, a lot of it in fact. Meaningful work be damned until I get to a financial standpoint that I can live with a low salary

Slightly more pay wouldn’t be a factor for me. Product manger or sales engineer would matter. What are you future goals? FANG on resume also would matter.

Of course FAANG.
