Having grown up there, hell no. I miss the beach very damn day, but no. Just no.

The tourists are awful and never quite understand that some people have places to go and to be. Same with the retired community. Only a few pockets have personality, the rest is chain-store and restaurant drivel. Other than environmental issues (sometimes) the politics of the state don’t align with mine, so I always felt I unrepresented at all levels of government. Investment in education is crap (see comments about retirees). Weather sucks for a lot of the year (hot and humid from like February to October). All the tourist activities price our residents, so there’s less to do in any given day than other places I’ve lived. Alligators are in all fresh water ponds and lakes and rivers and streams - oh and some brackish and salt water ones, too (and also salt water crocodiles). Don’t get me started on love bug season, which is an actual thing (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g28930-c73116/Florida:United-States:Love.Bugs.html). So while it still feels like “home”, I wouldn’t ever want to live there again. Well, maybe when I retire 😝
Hurricanes. I am visiting here. I was just talking to a person who is saying they want to move to get away from the hurricanes. I suggested the Pacific Northwest and how it is coastal and future proofed against most disasters, esp global warming related ones (drought, flooding, hurricanes, heat wave). He sounded thrilled. The beach is great but apparently not enough for everyone!
Not to Florida, can we make it St. Thomas or something?
Depends on the sacrifice. Do you mean leaving your company to work in Florida?
Do we have better chances with chicks there? Do many women walk around in bikinis? If yes then hell yeah
Yes with no hesitation if comp is the same
This.
Nope. I feel more happy at beach if I had slog my ass at work.
Heavily dependent on exact location in Florida. If Siesta Key, I could live with that. If Jacksonville or Orlando, no.
Florida can be great to visit, but I'd never live there
