Rivian Mechanical Engineer Interiors Salary

Apr 5, 2021 84 Comments

I am getting an opportunity with Rivian as a mechanical engineer. It's through a 3rd party.

Offer: $88,000,
Location: Irvine, California

Current Salary: $67,000,
Location: Michigan
YOE: 3 years

The offer seems low considering the location is California. Any advice will be appreciated.

    Contract position, pass.

Why bother working for a startup if you won't get any equity?

Also, no one from Rivian interviewed me. It's just the contracting firm. That sounds odd to me.

Definitely weird. Confirm you aren't sub contracted to another contract firm. Like your firm is contracting you to firm 2 and firm 2 is giving you to Rivian as "their own" contractor. I have seen many job postings made like that.

No way. That's a crap salary and no equity in a company that should go public soon.

Salary low, but not as low for South California as it looks.. North California and South California have different cost of living. I think most of these people commenting otherwise don't have a clue. Contract positions are often a great way of getting foot in the door and building a network in the company for converting. I know people who switched from North California (bay area) to South California and vice versa.
