High TC is not necessary for EB1. There is a certain set of criteria that USCIS use to adjudicate your application. Ask your lawyer or look up on google.

    Source: I applied via EB1.

@Apple, you should have mentioned you were a research powerhouse. What you have done, getting 400+ citations in peer-reviewed journals is probably 5-10x more uncommon than doing SWE at Faang.

@FShn26: I don’t think it’s that uncommon. I just mentioned those numbers to give a sense of what it takes to qualify for eb1b. I think anything above 200 citations is a good number.

I don't know why in this day and age lots of indians are still simping over US Visa. India is fast growing and SWEs are getting paid by tons. I agree it's difficult to get the same standard of living and competition is more but India is where you need to be if you are looking to create some business value and multiply your TC.

Added to that you get to meet your family more often.

    • It all comes down to the preference. A few prefer better standard of living and this is the reason they'd stay here.

Yes, India has its own perks but the hierarchical structure is the worst. You usually grow up the ladder if you are good to ur manager. FAANG might be different but it's pretty much same everywhere in India. It's a game of power.

  • I don't think that's how EB1 works. Isn't it for Extraordinary Ability? Having a high TC wouldn't mean extraordinary. I mean every other SWE on blind boasts a $500K+ TC

I know ppl on L1-A(Managers) can apply EB1-C. But that's got nothing to do with TC.
