My Amazon account was closed due to "unauthorized access" but I'm 1000% certain that all of the "suspicious activity" was me. I tried to purchase gift cards a few but Amazon's fraud detection algorithms are abysmal. After calling customer service and verifying *many* account details, I tried the purchase again and my entire account was closed.

I've been lied to over & over that I'll receive a "form" by email to clear everything up. That never happened. I have years & years of transaction data I need access to. In addition, all my Audible purchases are no longer accessible. Under GDPR and/or CCPA laws I think my rights to access to my own information are being violated.

Can anyone help me connect to a team that can actually help? Do I have legal recourse? Whenever I call it seems nobody can escalate me anywhere. Thanks in advance. #amazon

Did you know that being 99% confident is 10 times more confident than being 90% confident?

Technically, you're not 100% confident either.

Technically your math is supremely wrong. Don't throw out numbers just to spew something. Being 99% confident is 10% more confident than being 90% confident. Not 10 times.

You should Google this and admit that you're wrong.

  • Email jeff@amazon.com to get to the in-house support team. Pretty sure the people on this team are L4’s+ and can probably help you. Don’t bother calling cs for stuff outside a basic refund cause they technically don’t have access or permissions to do much

It's possible that Amazon thinks you are not a customer worth keeping. It's known that sometimes they ban customers returning too many items. It's their tactic of keeping everyone in line.

Good idea, but I've returned maybe 1 item this entire year with many thousands of dollars in purchases. It's extremely likely this is it.

When you spoke to CC what reason did they give? It also helps to understand that these protections are not put in error, you must have triggered off something which caused it. I have bought several gift cards so don’t keep saying just coz you bought a gift card they banned your account. Speak to them calmly and understand what happened and they can fix it. (Btw GDPR doesn’t apply to you..you are in the USA and not in Europe).

Thanks, CCPA applies though. I spoke calmly to them many times. Trust me, I used to work in customer service before I became a software engineer so I'm well-versed in being nice to try to reach a common ground. It's impossible with them. Their reason is vague - just that the account is on hold. I know it's because I tried to purchase $1000+ in gift card purchases. I'm guessing your purchases weren't that large.
