Recently interviewed with Amazon for sde2 position but they offered sde1 saying it would be a better fit. And the team they are offering is console team I told the hiring manager that I am interested in backend role he told his team has full stack engineers.
It would be great if someone could help me in knowing more about the aws console team
work , their wlb. It will help me a lot in taking the right decision.

In any case, backend in AWS means distributed systems. If you did not do well in that, they will not hire as backend engineer. They are giving you a SDE role in a front end team. That means that you will work mostly on the backend of a web application (the -team- console). I have found that this is the kind of work that a LOT of engineers from small companies think when they say they work as backend engineers.
If the role was for a Front end engineer (FEE) you would be working mostly in the HTML/JS side of the console.
You can use that opportunity to learn the real backend of your product and see if that is what you are interested into moving to.
