is it worth switching over some of the stock allocation (currently near 100%) to VXUS?
international stocks seem to have been hated so much in the last decade. but the people who clamor “go international!” are mostly americans who:
- can’t explain the top 10 companies in that index (and didnt know nestle wasn’t american),
- say that “cape is attractive”, (but don’t know what the true historical average PE ratio is for something like VXUS, like the way we do for the last century of SP500)
- or shy away when i try to ask them how foreign currency vs Dollar fluctuation affects VXUS
- try to “time the market” because they think “american stocks are over valued”; but would say so even if P/E ratio is like 20 (and don’t understand the SEC stock buyback changes in 1982)
