Specialized Nurse Practitioner Salary & Bonus Structure
What’s the bonus structure in specialized medicine?
My friend just got the following:
NP out of school with 4 years of Nursing experience 135k and payout of 40k within a year given that he stays there for 6 years, otherwise he’ll have to pay it all back. There’s not even a distribution schedule where they would pay out bonus for each employment year instead and let him keep it, which I’m proposing.
Salary 135k
Bonus 40k right away - stay within company 6 years or pay all back
TC: 175k
Is this a good deal?Any other options than the distribution schedule counter offer , should he go on a lesser distribution schedule ?
Is this common structure ? Shouldn’t he just get a 10-20% bonus of his salary annually anyway with no strings attached? ( I’m used to that in Tech)

Update:
It’s in the Midwest.
This is for Nurse Practitioner not nurse. He has about 4 years of nursing experience though.
