If you were going to freelance and had the option of living anywhere in the world while being able to work remotely with US clients.

Which country would you setup your private business (LLC type) in?

Things I am looking for:
- Cheap living
- Cheap food
- Low tax
- Preferably Asia
- Not too much hassle to setup the company
- Safe country

I am a Swedish Citizen.

Then why are so many Indians coming to US despite Visa and green card problem? I don’t know any successful tech companies except Instakart. Even that one was sold at cheap price. Many small countries have more tech companies (eg Finland, Sweden, Taiwan).

India’s population is 1.3 Billion. That’s a lot of people. A very small fraction of them come to the US. As I said the red tape was removed less than 4 years ago. So it is going to take some time for the course to reverse. TC and Lifestyle is also a factor. They will improve over time. There are several successful Indian tech companies - Flipkart, Snapdeal, Ola to name a few.

Additional advantages include young, English speaking workforce.

A friend of mine who is thai Citizen moved back and setup a company there. He works with European clients and have about 90% profit margin on the projects he pulls in.

He does spend a lot of time educating his staff, so a chunk of that profit goes toward that time - but he is killing it.

Much easier for him though since he speaks thai :)

And about east Europe, the quality of life is quite low compared to what I am used to.

In Thailand I lived in a beautiful condo on 13th floor with pool, gym etc. and in NYC I’m living in a 1br on 40th floor with an amazing view over Manhattan/Brooklyn bridge :)

Pros of Thailand is basically everything except that it is very hard to actually setup a company there!

I lived there before and would LOVE to move back. But the paper work is insane.
