You also get long covid if you are vaccinated, though.

People totally overestimate risks for kids under 5. A coworker was asking about the best place his elderly parents who were visiting could get tested for COVID. He was afraid of his parents spreading to his unvaccinated kids. Kids go to school every day. Biggest risk is that the kids spread to the (vaccinated grandparents), not the other way around.

it's surprising to see so many folks wearing cloth and surgical still, given at this point this has to be about self protection (don't get infected). if so cautious at this point why would you adorn something that pretty much everyone agrees is useless to protect self

    • I have respiratory issues and have been wearing masks since 2013. It's not about authority.

Also mandates have been lifted, no one is saying that you have to wear masks anymore. If someone decides to wear one it's because they have their own personal reasons for doing so.

Its not always for self protection.
      Could be b/c:
      -My face is cold
-I don't want creepy guys talking to me
      -I'm not properly groomed
-I'm feeling social anxiety and the mask helps me cope
      -I like wearing a mask
      -My breath smell like weed

  • Masks never helped much anyways. It was mostly political just to make people “feel” safe.

Wore mask for two years, washed hands frequently, carried around sanitizer, etc. I wasn’t sold masks were the solution but since wife was pregnant and then we had the baby, we were extra cautious.

Still the virus hit my family. And my extended family. Hit the “safe” ones, hit the “unsafe” ones. If you’re gonna get it, you’re gonna get it, unfortunately. That’s my thoughts anyway.

So we stopped and all have gone back to “normal.” And I pretty much let my baby lick everything crawl everywhere etc. And FYI he was a CHAMP while our whole family (vaccinated) was running fevers etc.

In my opinion, be respectful of others, regardless their choice, BUT don’t fall for the media’s bullshit (either extreme.)
