stupid question, but is coderpad execution normally disabled in FB interview?

I had interview last week for FB, and I’m at the stage where I keep overthinking everything. I did really well and talked through working solutions for mediums in under 15 mins each.

Gave correct time complexities too.

However, come to think of it, I never ran any code? It said “execution disabled” on coderpad and I told the interviewer this but they said just talk through solution.

Is this standard procedure for phone interview? I’m just nervous because while I believe my solutions were correct, there might have been an error I couldnt catch due to not being able to run code.

Thanks

Usually don’t care about it unless it’s that bad. As long as the level of badness is not too high, what matters is your thinking and how you transform it (with coffee if needed) to code.

  • Yes, its disabled on default. The interviewer can enable it. I wouldn't worry too much about it though

thank you :) she seemed pretty strict about not using execution, i’m gonna assume she was satisfied w my solutions. you made me feel better.

If you didn’t notice any errors perhaps the interviewer didn’t as well. I wouldn’t worry

  • Nothing is stopping you from copying it to another editor that lets you execute lol. They can’t see what you’re doing.

    • Have a key stroke program running in the background to duplicate code elsewhere? View the page html source and copy it? Facebook would appreciate such hacks given their “hacker” culture lol
