I work for a growing online marketing company and we've been hiring. We've noticed a high number of applicants to technical positions have attended General Assembly, often going into debt to do so. We haven't found these applicants to be all that better prepared than others and we've heard that the instructors tell students to apply for jobs way ahead of their skill level. All that got me wondering what other people think of GA. Is it another ITT Tech that fleeces people trying to get into the tech field? Is it good for some things and not others? Is it worth the money? I'm interested in people's opinions on this.
GA accepts anyone who's willing to pay the tuition. That's why it's graduates aren't good.
Same experience. Another itt tech in the making.
Generally, its a poor quality investment. Many of the graduates cannot pass technical interviews or get jobs out of their class. You will not have the tools needed to be highly effective in a role even at an associate level without extra training.
Great article on the ux of hiring for ux including details about bootcamps https://uxdesign.cc/the-ux-of-hiring-for-ux-positions-255b6149066e
I have found one graduate that I worked with to have superficial knowledge and needed some hand holding to get a project done. Of course thats just my experience.
