Calling out to people at @Atlassian that either work remote or work frequently with someone that is remote - how well is "Team Anywhere" working?
I'm east coast US, but not commuting distance to NYC, and considering an offer that would have me fully remote working with people across US time zones (but mostly Pacific Time) and Sydney; hiring manager has said I would still work east coast hours, but I worry about being pulled in to working late nights for more overlap.
Anyone in a similar situation, or know a coworker who is?

Since I joined, I have not set an alarm to wake up in the morning (no meetings before 10 am); I go to bed & get up just naturally without worrying about making it somewhere on time. Want to take a 3 hr lunch to drive a little further out? Wanna sign off early? Wanna drive your family/friend somewhere during business hours? Doctor’s appointment? No problem, just deliver whatever I’m working on on time (and they give you a lot of time to get it done).
People in different timezones? No problem, most work can be done asynchronously & any collaboration that requires more “in-person” can be a Zoom meeting. Slack messages can be scheduled & notifications paused; you can specify your work hours in Google calendar & people won’t expect you to attend meetings outside of that. Meetings with Sydney can be “tough” because 10am in Sydney is 8 pm ET, but if your HM is saying you don’t need to worry about it, it’s not gonna be an issue. Important meetings have recordings or keynotes sent out afterwards, anyway.
Life is good, stress-free. Project progress feels a little slow sometimes (compared to previous FAANG job), since no one pressures anyone to get something done quickly lol. My teammates are all very motivated so we get things done really early & then coast until the next one starts 😎
Atleast, for me, experience has been pretty good
Very flexible tbh
People work at their own terms
The only time I’ve seen people work odd hours due to time differences is, for example, someone on my US based team traveling to India for a few weeks and working from there. He was on at some weird hours to align with the rest of us.
On the downside, some teams have large footprint in India which requires lots of late evenings and early mornings.
