Hey @Blind, can we make the women in tech topic only available to women in tech? Not sure how this can be done, but it might be beneficial so there aren’t the men’s rights activist trolls and gender pay gap deniers flooding it with their pollution.

Safe spaces are just a modern word for segregation. Back in the day segregation was considered a bad thing.

MP3, have you considered that some women might actually prefer Jobs you say are traditionally male?

Until people like you exist, the fight for equality is not over. That is to say, it has to continue forever.

Or maybe if it can’t be all women, we can just ban the sexist trolls and the people who pretend there isn’t a gender pay gap?

    • @yMcg47 I look young and I'm very short - the woman in question was taller than me. I'm pretty oblivious most of the time and assume equality and positive intent to a fault - this situation and a few others had to be pretty blatant to get my attention. He could have directed his questions to the older, more established female project manager in the room if he didn't take the younger female expert leading the meeting seriously, but he turned to me instead every time. I didn't want to go on at even more length, but the same guy made comments about marriage and pregnancy that were pretty condescending to her. He was a very powerful partner in our big-name financial services firm, so this mattered to her career.

(I should clarify that I'm not talking about my current company).

I just wanted to point out that we don't want to believe this happens - for a long time, I didn't think it actually happened, at least not at my company, at least not in the 21st century - until I saw it. If obliviously-respectful me saw it a few times with a few different people, how many times did it happen that I didn't see?

And whether it happens all the time or rarely, what does it cost me to have a little empathy and believe the reported experience of my intelligent, polished, hard-working female colleagues?

@mp3 Salesforce jus had to adjust pay by millions because of an internal pay gap (twice). Same positions, performance, and time, still a gap.

I have one of those Cold War rotating alarm lamps with me at all times. Anytime a word “woman” pops up on blind I hear a siren and I get right to work.

Just doing my duty. Not all heroes wear capes 😜

Yes, how can this be made all women? It shouldn’t bother men that this is something we want. Not sure why several feel like it’s hurting their manhood by this. The section is women in Tech.

@Gdee, honestly, I don’t care an ounce. I’m all for rallying behind issues that women face, but don’t shoot yourselves in the foot by going in the exact opposite direction of what you claim to be fighting for.

If they want space away from men - then they should organize it. Not whine on the internet so men hear them and make it for them. LOL

Sigh, as a male myself, the replies by my male brethren make me sad.

Here is a feature suggestion for blind : Allow someone to be kicked out of Women in Tech if a post is reported as trolling etc by say more than 5 users. will eliminate the need for finding gender.
