Had a tech interview phone screen yesterday, was asked to write a solution for adding a list of restaurants and then searching it by prefix should list all the results entered previously with match the prefix. Used a trie data structure , completed the add word function with out issues and also implemented the search prefix functionality but had some typos and syntax errors due to the lack of time ( but explained the code as I wrote it). Also provided the space and time complexity correctly. The interviewer cut me off at the 40 min mark saying he got how ive implemented it only it had certain typos to ask if I had any more questions about Uber . The coding time was 40 min ( 5 min for introduction , for a total of 45 min interview) . Does this qualify for a reject? Or a pass to next round.
PS: I’ve interviewed many times in the past if I hadn’t completed the problem I have gotten rejects and also been cleared for such non clear signals. Just can’t make a judgment on how the interviewer perceived it.
