Yahoo (Verizon Media) vs Capital One SWE internship
I know both of these might not be the best places to work for full time, but I’ve heard that both of their intern programs are very well organized. On the one hand I want to go to a place where where I’ll have a good return offer (I think yahoo wins in this regard) but on the other hand Capital One’s full time salary in Richmond is much better than yahoo’s in norcal (after adjusting for the cost of living). More importantly, I want a good name on my resume so that I can pass resume screens for FAANG and hedge funds (with a greater preference towards hedge funds), as this year I straight up didn’t get interviews for hedge funds at all. Thoughts?
Yahoo has a lot more perks too - free food yeah? Capital One doesn’t even always have snacks depending on your org. + Richmond there’s almost nothing to do there, one of the most boring small town vibe cities ever
From a tech standpoint yahoo is better. Free food, barista made coffee, ice cream daily, and now and then wine/beer bash at their Sunnyvale campus.
They might not have free food for next summer, but the current free food is way better than Google/Facebook. In any case, it'll be subsided if it's not free (not yet decided if they're gonna charge).
Ok let’s hope not, though I know they are relocating to San Jose in 2021. Maybe they will take it away at that time.
Yahoo was awesome to intern at, they treat you very well.

I really enjoy working at Yahoo. Tech stack is very good, people are generally smart and friendly, and - yeah - the food is awesome.
I interned at Yahoo too. You wont regret it for sure. But try to apply Fang for full time
I was in this same position last year and chose c1 because yahoo is dying and firing people each year. c1 was great though, I was using great tech, people were smart, learned a lot, and they have a ton of great intern activities planned out. A lot of people went yo faang after the internship too!
Yahoo is super chill. Everyone thinks Amazon, Apple, Google, and Facebook are so great. Truth is, they treat their employees like SLAVES. Yahoo isn't like that.
