  • Being an idiot is a good enough reason. All of those people were idiots.

Pretty stupid to think this wouldn't get you fired at any company. Chinese or American.

That's very immoral , getting an extra meal for your spouse is a gray area, hosting other people and charging for it is down right fraud. After what FB pays you there is absolutely no excuse for such behavior.

  • The article is pretty clear about that. Bringing competitor employees, especially competitor employees with an established history of intellectual property theft, on a tour of a campus and doing lunch in a corporate cafeteria are big no-nos. Every major company with something to protect has very strict policies on how hosting external competitor employees has to work.

A small amount of personal profit using company resources is just icing on the cake as it was cited.

They're lucky just got fired and not sued, to be honest.

    • Uh... Yes? Corporate espionage is a an absolutely huge deal. A phone picture, short recording, or single snatched USB drive in the right place can do many millions of dollars of damage to a company in one fell swoop

"I don't understand corporate security" doesn't equate to "corporate security doesn't matter." This response from Facebook would have been met or exceeded by any company in the industry. This was deep into the "do not do" list.

      Silly examples but ok.

Also fb was founded on theft. But hypocrisy is in fashion.

  • My sympathies with those employees. Probably, did it with no evil intentions. But it's not totally unbelievable that they did something stupid like this. They would have thought it will be easy to get away. But you know Zucky is smarter than then...
