How does the YouTube trending algorithm work. It appears to have a liberal bias. Some very popular videos (Ex: PewDiePie) almost never show up as trending. Is the YouTube trending algorithm biased?
Yawn. Everyone thinks there's a bias against their own tribe.
Isn’t it true that YouTube prioritizes “authoritative” news sources over smaller channels? There’s pretty glaring examples of searching for the exact title of a video related to politics and it will be the 40th video listed in the results. Also the same thing happened with Brie Larson where YouTube tagged her names as “news” to avoid the backlash against Captain Marvel
Lol this literally a “get off my lawn” post
President Barack Obama is given a Google Sheets link every morning to a list of probable liberal and conservative YouTube accounts. He goes through and confirms which accounts are conservative and which accounts are liberal. He then assigns a weighted value to each account. We multiply the probability of you viewing a video directly by this weight. He only does ~200 accounts per day but over time it really adds up. Cool thing about it is that his staff GUARANTEES it is objective and fair. I only know this because I built this process and since joining Facebook I’ve brought this over too.
Why would that matter if they were? YouTube can be biased if they want (even though though I don't think they are)
It is biased toward "Advertiser Friendly" content.
