Company A is sponsoring me and would apply for my H1B on 1 April. Company B is a much better one and the offer is almost confirmed. I am going to sign the offer today. Given that the timeline is extremely sensitive, deadline being April 1. 1. Should I ask Company A to stop applying for the H1-B ASAP or wait until I officially sign the offer with company B? 2. What would happen if I had to wait a few more days but by then, company A files a petition? Is it ok? 3. Can you withdraw a visa application once applied? 4. Can I leave A after the visa is applied? Is there any caveat to this? I would be joining either of the companies only by July. I am clueless here hence the series of questions. Greatly appreciate your inputs. TC : 150k
Welcome to the US Immigration Shit-show! Leave the US to get yourself some peace of mind, and go to Canada instead.
Haha, that is an option! But do you have any idea about this? I don't want to risk losing my OPT.
Somewhat lower salaries and higher taxes, but much better standard of living, awesome safety net, free healthcare, happier people, no mass shootings, and free public school education that ranks 2nd in the entire world in PISA rankings.
April 1 is when the application will be sent over or uscis starts processing I think. If you’re pretty darn sure about company B and signing it stop/withdraw from A.
Sign company b for much later start date. Ask company a to file yours as Premium processing. You should receive the result by June. If approved, ask company b to do a transfer in premium
I am a new grad! I have same start dates, can't delay it further and company A is only doing regular processing. That can't be an option.
If you set your start date as July and make company A to file as premium processing, then you have a chance. Are you currently on OPT? Just say to company A that you will pay the premium fees if you had to
Why is this tagged with Yahoo? If company A is Yahoo, please go to company B. Thank you.
Lol 😂 Brutal...

Sign company b and ask company a to not file for h1. Very likely you will lose opt if your h1 is selected and you don't work for company a. Even if h1b is withdrawn, you can end up in that boat. Don't do it.
I have already sent over the documents, should I renege the offer immediately with Company A?
Yes
