Programmers are the smartest people in the world
If you were only 5 months into a tier 3 tech company (atlassian, adobe, salesforce) and then got approached by a tier 1 tech company (Netflix, Google, Facebook) went through the interviews and got an offer. How much % more would the offer need to be for you to leave after 5 or 6 months, essentially burning a bridge? EDIT: non engineering role Tiers are very loosely defined
5-6 months is considered bridge burning?
Don't you think a company would black list you if you left that fast?
I think any company will black list you if you leave regardless of how long you stay with the company.
Salesforce is tier 3?
Happens everyday. Just bounce. U don’t really build bridges in 5 months And in case you haven’t noticed this is cutthroat industry. All about tc. Just cz u r loyal ppl wont be loyal to you. They will lay you off tomorrow without a second thought if required Always look out for yourself first, always
That tier 3 list makes me think I work at tier 10.
Just moved from HPE, can confirm lol
Pipmenot . I guess with that move you might have thought that HPE WLB and fear of pip shit is not worse like Amazon but you still made the move . Congrats. Besides higher TC what interested you to outweigh the blind sourced toxicity at Amazon
Don't worry about it. Tier 3 or 2 or 1 don't give a damn about you. You are just a small cog in the wheel. Move on and don't look back.
Jump ship, leave off the old job on ur resume and if anyone asks say u took it as personal time/travelling/whatever
20% higher offer would make me leave. Forget about burning bridges or getting blacklisted.. there are hundreds of other companies out there..
Totally fine
It sounds as if you don't even have an offer yet from your tier 1. Maybe get that first before worrying.
Fair enough. But interview prep is a full time job. Just wanna know if I should even go through the process if I think the TC is not enough.
I would worry more about a 5months work history in resume than potentially burn the bridge with one company
How much more would you have to be paid for it to be worth it though? I would imagine that if your TC was doubled, you'd do it but not if it was only 10%.
