Fox news absurd arguments against gun control

I saw fox news beat up democratic senator calling for gun control. There is good arguments on both sides. Guns can kill, so can knifes and trucks. But automatic weapons makes it easy. Case in point Sandy Hook. Could the murderer drive a truck into classroom? Las Vegas, could the murderer used a knife to cause mass casualty. Its harder to achieve thought less mass killings without guns. This is common sense. But not at fox news. They want silencer and more powerful weapons in the hands of citizen. In lot of ways, I see gun control is a last fighting ground for the trump base. I maybe wrong here but share my empathy for citizens who feel giving up their freedom and liberty because of a lunatic is not fair. Thoughts?

Also, don't assume that the armed forces will fully support the government after a tyrannical shift. Half of them would probably be on the side of the resistance, or at least unwilling to shoot at their fellow Americans.

Automatic weapons were not used in the Vegas shooting or Sandy Hook. In fact they have only been used in 3 shootings since the 1930s. The Vegas shooter used a bump stock which simulates auto shooting. If you want to talk about banning bump stocks then go ahead.
However the fact is that automatic weapons are already highly illegal and difficult to get. Also there is no push by the NRA to make silencers legal. That was just Hillary off her meds again.
Read the wiki article on bump_fire and educate your self. Bump firing can be done with zero additional apparatus. Therefore adding apparatus like a cushion makes it easier.
The article also says a rubber band can be used to make a bump stock. It also yes that batf banned a bump stock after a spring was added then re approved it after the spring was removed. You can buy springs at the hardware store. Gonna ban springs ?

Regarding mass killings, does anyone remember Timothy McVeigh? Guns have supplanted explosives as the psychopaths tool of choice lately. However explosives are still far more effective, and would have been in the case of Las Vegas. If someone could wave a magic wand and eradicate the world of all firearms, it doesn't solve the root of the issue that psychopaths exist, and are hell bent on wreaking havoc. They will just turn to a different tool.
Lastly, it's important to point out that US violent crime, murder, and firearms crime rates are all dropping. That is despite the repeal of the 1994 assault weapons ban, despite the fact that firearm sales are at an all-time high, despite the fact that suppressor sales are at an all-time high. Now, I don't believe this is causal, however but the correlation is interesting, and absolutely does not support more gun control equals less crime.
FFS there should be a civics test before anyone is admitted into the USA or allowed to post to the internet.
