I have been asked to resign immediately and serve notice period from my manager.
I have also been asked to stop looking for internal switch.
Is there anything I can do to delay the notice period.

I have started my journey 1 year ago within Microsoft Hyderabad. Joined as level 61 SDE-2.
I was not able to perform well during initial days hence the bad image has carried forward from those days even after showing improvements in the deliverable and code quality.

Can you please help me with companies who are actively looking to hire SDE-2 or Senior Software Engineers in India and how does hiring round looks like

  • You need atleast 2 IRs in 2 consecutive connects, to even start the process of firing.
Your manager is bullshiting you, he cannot fire you because that needs months of paper work to show how he has tried to guide you.
Do not fall for his fake and hollow threats. Don't resign. Use this time to prepare and get offers outside.

      OP
They have clearly stated they want to vacate my position and post a vacancy, if I don't resign they might have to take the firing route and involve a lot of paperwork and that can even lead me to not interview at MSFT again in future.
I am planning to resign next week, since they have declined the prospects of looking for internall switch also.
Never knew MSFT could be this harsh.

OP - Again joining MSFT even after this incidents? There are so many companies which would behave better than this. So don't worry about standing your ground and don't Resign by yourself.

  • Damn. Sad OP. People don't understand that remote onboarding is hard and at times, our personal issues may get into our performance. However, what's your story? Why do you think there was an underperformance?

Sad to know this. How much delay do you want? One week, two weeks, one month?

Just ask him to wait this year out i.e., 2021 and tell you’ll resign in 2022 first week of January. Tell that you’re asking this on humanitarian grounds so as to enjoy the festivities before resignation.

By the way, which team is this for? I may be able to help if I know the team

    • Allowing him to resign is a kindness here. I guarantee that his manager has already gone through hr and is hoping to save themselves some work and maybe wants OP to be able to save a little face.

If he doesn't resign promptly they will most certainly fire him.
