Are you out of your mind? There are hundreds of thousand people who want to do anything to get selected in H-1B.

If you are not happy about being on H-1B, just forfeit this H-1B, or just shut up and live on.

Count your fkn blessings, I’d rather be on H-1B for next 15 years.

  For applicants from shithole countries or huge backlogs countries, a 2-year-fake-marriage for gc is much better than the uncertainty. You never understand how important the green card is. It’s not exaggerating to say that gc == peace in mind

  No need to stoop to name-calling if you have no argument. OP also stated possibility of renouncing GC within 7 years. I know people who would do that and I would probably do that too if I’m not planning to stay longer and if somehow I do decide to get the GC. Otherwise you’re subject to hefty exit tax as well, yuck. Tax obligations are ugly here.

I'm am American in another country on a regular work visa. We have all the same hassles as immigrants to the US do, though the fees are smaller (as are the salaries). I feel your pain, H1B workers.

  Japan is just as expensive as the US. I think Tokyo is even more expensive than many parts of California

  It's only expensive if you demand US-like amenities like 1000+ square-foot freestanding houses for a family of three, or want to own two cars.
  
  It's much easier for young people and working class people to get by than it is in HCOL US areas.
