Excerpt from Elon's email sent on Black Friday:

"Unless you have critical family matters or cannot physically return to Hawthorne, we need all hands on deck to recover from what is, quite frankly, a disaster."

Seems like a fun place to work!

  • If he let people work remotely on the weekend during these “all hands on deck” situations, he would get many more people that are able to help that are physically nowhere near Hawthorne.

Software engineers can totally work remotely on the weekend. He probably just dropped into the office and saw nobody there and freaked out. He never comes up to software floor (it's only a 1min walk from his desk) so I doubt that's the issue. He probably came in on thxgiving and asked someone where they make the raptors then saw nobody there so he asked someone else how to turn on the machines so he can make raptors and got frusterated he couldn't figure it out so sent out a mass email "all hands on deck!"

    • Your comment does not make that obvious at all. “People”. And issues in manufacturing…what immediately comes to mind?

I like that the private sector looked at one of the most wasteful government programs and thought "I can make that work".
